Play Therapy

For children ages 3+

Play therapy provides children with a safe environment to confront their problems and find creative solutions. Often, children’s “problem behavior” is what they have come to believe is their only option for solving their problems, seeking help and/or achieving connection. Play therapy allows them to change the way they perceive their problems, understand their emotions and act in a more appropriate effective way to resolve their problems, express their feelings and advocate for their needs. Play therapy helps children develop self confidence through greater sense of control and self awareness.

Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy

Cognitive-behavior therapy focuses on interconnection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and how they each affect one another. The therapist helps the child become aware of their thoughts and feelings while empowering them with psycho-education and skills to overcome challenges. CBT encompasses a range of techniques and approaches that address our thoughts, emotions and behaviors such as mindfulness and acceptance strategies which target core processes, such as increased emotional awareness and regulation, cognitive flexibility and goals-based behaviors.

For parents and families

Family Therapy & Parent Support

Parents and caregivers play a fundamental and integral role in the therapy process, serving as key partners in their child’s emotional and psychological development. Throughout this journey, we will strive to provide ongoing support, along with resources designed to parents to effectively support their child outside of therapy sessions. Depending on the unique presenting concerns and individual circumstances, parent(s) may also be invited into therapy sessions. This involvement can foster positive communication and strengthen the connection between parents and their child, ultimately enhancing the overall therapeutic experience. It is through collaboration and understanding that we can create a nurturing environment for the child’s growth and healing.

You’ll take the first step and complete my contact form. Within 72 hours, I will respond via email to set up a free, 15-minute consultation call. If we decide to proceed forward, I will send you onboarding information and we’ll schedule a parent intake session.

Ongoing Support and Adjustments

An Excerpt from "Wholehearted Parenting Manifesto"

“We will practice courage in our family by showing up, letting ourselves be seen, and honoring vulnerability. We will share our stories of struggle and strength. There will always be room in our home for both.”

Common Questions

The initial parent intake session is $200/90 Minutes.

Individual and/or family sessions are $150/50 Minutes.

Payment is expected in full at the end of each session. I currently accept credit cards, FSAs (workplace Flexible Spending Accounts) and HSA (Health Savings Account).

I am currently in-network with Cigna. For all other insurance carriers, I am considered an out of network provider. My services may be eligible for reimbursement as an out-of-network provider. Please contact me directly for more information.

The frequency of sessions usually depends on the severity and/or type of presenting concerns. Initially, I recommend starting with weekly sessions as it is easier to build rapport. Overtime, we can discuss adjusting frequency with consideration of progress and treatment goals.

I see clients Monday through Thursday typically between the hours of 10am-6pm.

Individual sessions usually last anywhere from 50-55 minutes.

Yes! Parents are crucial to this work and I believe the best outcomes occur when parents are engaged, informed and included throughout the process. I do my best to remain in communication with parents week to week regarding ongoing concerns and/or suggestions for how to support at home in between sessions.

I require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment (whether in-person or telehealth). Otherwise, the full cost of the session will be charged.

Unfortunately, there is not a simple answer for this. The length of time your child will be in services depends on many factors, including but not limited to: type and number of presenting concerns, willingness of child to participate in counseling, and parental involvement. I’d be happy to discuss further during our parent intake meeting.
